Excuse me for a moment, I have to concentrate on not screaming.

Just got my results back from my EMR Written Exam. Really, really would like to scream right now, but suppose I can wait until I get home to my lovely soundproof apartment where the only creature I’ll freak out is Justice. You were incomplete in your written exam obtaining a mark of 66% (70 percent [...]

Approximately 3 microns away from exploding with rage

There is NO way in hell that I passed that test. I am really, really angry with the JI right now — how, exactly, was I prepared for that? Seriously, I got 94% on the written exam in class… you’d THINK that this would indicate that I have an idea of what I’m doing, right? [...]

because I’m addicted

there’s now a third domain that points to this site — along with arwen.org & lifetheuniverseanddonna.ca, say hello to traumaqueen.ca I may eventually develop this into something separate, but for now it amuses the pants off me just to own it.

Probably only of interest to me…

traumaqueen.net is the blog of Kal, an Ambulance Technician in Edinburgh that is so well written to have brought me to tears on several occasions, and had me killing myself with laughter on others. Anyway. Is good, if you’re into that sort of thing… which I might just be.

Let the studying begin!

Received in my email today: Your exam package has been mailed to [Proctor's Name Removed] at the BCAS HR Vancouver office to proctor your EMR Written exam on the date you previously arranged (July 24, 2008).   Ok, so I already knew about that one. No problem. But this! This is new… You have been [...]

Trauma Queen

I finally came up with a category name for my paramedicine-related posts: Trauma Queen. It’s not that I want you to get hurt. I just want to be there when you do. Am greatly amused.

Inaccurate.

So I’m currently a rather big fan of the song “How To Save a Life” by The Fray. However, after the last three weeks, I can tell that it’s not right. Here’s what they suggest. In reality, it’s about assessing & correcting airway, breathing, and circulation. Now you know. This “I’m a smart-ass” post brought [...]

Go Team Baconscope

So, Monday was broken up into two parts: Trauma calls in the morning, medical calls in the afternoon. Each student had to do one full call (~40 minutes) of each. After the trauma call, I was reasonably certain I’d mucked it up royally. My “patient” was a pedestrian struck by a car going 60kph, with [...]

SUCCESS!

I hold in my hot little hands my certificate of completion for the JIBC EMR course. EMA Licensing, here I come. And now, for a good deal of alcohol and dirty, dirty sex to celebrate. Update later.

Elation

First Test (skill station): Done. Passed. Got a “well done” on my review. Am very happy. Call was for an amputation. Made a couple of minor mistakes, but at least one was a “simulation error” because I didn’t realize the sheet over her hand was intended to be a towel, vs. a visual aid. Oops. [...]
