Am brilliant, but we knew that.

With some trepidation, Nick & I stopped by the mailbox today. Not because of any outstanding bills, but for something much, much scarier: My math assessment results.
I did the math (har har) earlier, and realized it’s been a full 14 years since I took a math class — all the way back to the [...]

Math is not my strong suit

Combine drug-induced drowsiness with “I haven’t done grade 9 math since… grade 9″ and you have a recipe for what could have been a really shitty evening.
I wrote my Health Sciences math assessment tonight. Surprisingly, I think it actually went well. I continue to suck at fractions, but I should at least pass. Although [...]

Bloody fascinating stuff

So, tonight I learned that I will never specialize in endocrinology. It’s a combination of both Fucking Cool and … jesus christ, how the hell do you pronounce THAT?
I was super tired for the first half of the class. No idea why, but had a hard time staying awake. Grabbed a drink at the [...]

Bodies Gone Bad

I learned something last night: I learn much better with examples of what can go wrong, as opposed to simply how things work when they’re right. More interesting is that I’ve known someone with every one of the example diseases she’s brought up — celiacs, crohns, psoriasis, arthritis, diabetes…
My prof likes to give examples [...]

Midterm Greens

I got my grades back from last weeks midterm. My cautious optimism was fairly accurate. I had predicted a high B, and received a B+. Not the greatest grade ever to come down the pike, but considering I knew full well that I was underprepared on tissues… yeah, it’ll do. Next time, when I think [...]

Midterm Blues

Actually, I’m cautiously optimistic. I think the midterm went well.
I definitely should have studied tissue more, but I think I rocked basic anatomy and surprisingly, cellular structure. Out of 50 questions, there were 5 or 6 that were stabs in the dark, but they were at least educated guesses, generally narrowing it down to two [...]

Surprisingly, this is actually helping me study.

I have a midterm on Thursday. I’m a little nervous, because it’s been a while since I had a midterm, and most of this is memorization. I’m generally okay with it, but … y’know, nervous.
Anyway, so Jenn was nice enough to help quiz me on body systems…
Marmot Phil says: here, let me quiz [...]

Classy

So I’m a student again.
Every time I go back to school, I feel a little older. This makes sense, since I keep aging, and the average age of students remains the same. The bouncy blonde ponytail in front of me is making me feel positively ancient.
So I managed to find my class without [...]

Awesome

This is one of the best posts I’ve ever read: What Every Paramedic Student Should Know. Sure, I’m no longer a wanna-be paramedic (Well, I am, but it’s gonna stay wanna-be) but I think it applies to any sort of newbie direct health care provider student, which I hope I will be soon.

Edumacation

The schools I have gone to:
Alice Brown Elementary (first half of Kindergarten. Actually, I’m not sure if this was the school — give me a break, I was 4, what do I know? Anyway, it was an elementary school in Brookswood, I think this was it. Mom will correct me if I’m wrong.)
Harold [...]
