So, a few weeks ago, Nick & I picked up a pre-made, pop it in the oven for half an hour, shepherds pie. It looks nummy. Two days later, Nick popped it in the oven. I went to take it out, and … mold? Wtf?
I checked the expiry date, it was still 3 days away. That said, mold bad, and so into the trash it went.
We decided to try again. This time, we bought a shepherd’s pie that doesn’t expire until the weekend. A full week to cook & eat it’s shepherdy goodness! So we ate it last night, and it was divine (and mold-free.)
Today? Today bad things are happening. My stomach has been in agony all day, along with the frequent bathroom visits that come with said stomachy agony. By the time I left work (an hour early) I was nauseous, intense full body ache, shaking, headachey, had chills, the whole nine yards. And about the time I was leaving work early, so was Nick, as whatever was causing my malady caught up with him.
I think I’ll be avoiding the Costco shepherd’s pie from here on in. Sad, because it was super-tasty, but … oh god, back later, have to go to the bathroom…
You really should report that, both to Costco as well as to whatever the disease control authorities are in Canada. It’s not likely, but is possible that entire shipments are tainted with anything from simple spoilage to E. Coli. It’s only when people report the symptoms that they can know they need to investigate. Remember, what makes you sick could kill a small child or elderly person.
