JELLYFISH.

“What’s your biggest fault?” “Well, I’m simply TOO awesome.”

So Nick started his new contract today. Woo! It’s an open-ended “You tell us when you’re done” sort of thing, at the company he very much wants to be with, so … yay! He’s so excited about it he felt the need to wake me up at midnight to describe how he’s going to design the cameras to work on the new game he’s being brought in for. And then got up at 5am to write it all down lest he forget his fantastic ideas. I love the boy, even if he’s a bit crazy sometimes.

So if I’m tired today, I can blame him, right? Nah, I’m super-proud of him, and even if I don’t always get exactly what the hell he’s talking about, I love listening to him talk when he’s passionate about something. Even at midnight.

It's funny when they make their head-fat go "blorp". Also, gross.

Completely different topic: This weekend, I visited the Vancouver Aquarium.

This was a rather momentous occasion. For one, I haven’t been to the aquarium since I was very small. For another, I’ve actively boycotted the aquarium for the past 17 years. My grade seven class field trip was supposed to be to the aquarium… but I refused to go. I’m not comfortable with wild animals in captivity used for public entertainment. I’m not really interested in debating that, but there it is. I’m not crazy about it, and due to that, I have purposely avoided going.

So why now? Well, a few reasons. One, Nick really likes the aquarium. Two, I figured if I’m going to dislike something on principle, it’s not a bad idea to actually VISIT and see if my opinions still hold up. They do. Three, Carol Ann was staying with me for the day, and I thought it’d be fun to take her.

Anyway. Ethics aside, I had a really great time. It’s a cool place, and there is a ton of really cool things to look at… and take pictures of. I have a particular fondness for jellyfish.

Jellyman

I think Carol Ann enjoyed herself, too. (On a related note: My sister? She’s 7. SEVEN. She’s self sufficient, has opinions, thoughts, ideas… she’s a regular person, and a pretty awesome one at that. How did THAT happen?)

Is anybody in there?
