I’m amused, and not terribly surprised. For one, I was born in ’79, so this is basically a rundown of “movies nominated for oscars since I was born” and sure enough, didn’t see a lot of them when I was still an infant. More amusing is the volume of movies I saw in ’99-’00, as those were my Victoria years, when Tina & I would go see a movie every Tuesday night, no matter how shitty. We saw “Teaching Mrs. Tingle” for fucks sake. Now I’m back to not watching a lot of movies, unless Nick convinces me to come along… but his preference tends to be for action flicks that are unlikely to show up on the Oscar nomination list.

And yes, I know I’m writing a lot of memes lately. I am unoriginal. Suck it.

Can you put HTML in these comments? I don’t want to reply and bold them if they’re all going to render with tags around them.

Well, I guess that answers that question.

hee. Any basic HTML, yes. :)

Considering the inordinate amount of movies, it just goes to show that I watch what I like, not what the Academy tells me I should like.

Lots of the ones that I haven’t “seen”, I have seen parts of, but never got around to watching the whole thing. My tastes are a little eclectic too, which is sometimes balanced by “what does my wife want to see.”

Now, how many of the Razzie nominees from the same time frame have you seen. http://www.razzies.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=58&PN=1

  7. R1 says:

I should have noted that there are several of those that I haven’t seen that I definitely plan to, especially the more recent ones like Slumdog and Benjamin Button that I either haven’t had time for or will wait for on DVD. I can’t afford movies often, between the price and the cost of babysitting, so I generally only go to the theater to see the ones that really require the big screen (usually action/fantasy/sci-fi types) and the rest I wait for on DVD.

  8. Kristina says:

If you are ever wanting to join me, I go to the drive in in Aldegrove just about every sunday (my day off) and you are always welcome!!! (and Nick of course if he wants to go, and Justice too!!)

  9. alexis says:

Suddenly my ziplist just got a lot longer….

  10. yvonne says:

I highly recommend MILK. Laughed and cried…fantastic!

Other quirky ones I think you’ll love Donna-
    Fargo
    Il Postino
    Little Miss Sunshine

The Last Emperor, Ghandi, Life is Beautiful and the Killing Fields are significant works, I believe, and so wonderfully filmed that I’ve seen them each several times.

Can’t believe The Full Monty is on this list. Yes, it was cute…but the top list? Really?

  11. Donna says:

Milk was one that I really wanted to see, based on the description from the Oscars. (hah. last time I had something like that, it was The Queen… which I actually really liked. Fascination with british monarchy, who knew?)

I’ll start my downloading soon. :)
