Shoes for Snow

Every time I try to type “snowshoeing” I end up typing “snoeshowing”. Somehow, I don’t think that’s the same.

Anyway, in an attempt to be romantic and adorable for our first Valentines together, I came up with what I thought was a pretty awesome idea, and luckily, Nick agreed: Snowshowing. So 7pm found us up at Mt. Seymour, strapping ungainly spiked contraptions to our feet to go hiking where people have no business hiking under normal circumstances.

Resting

It was a blast. It was a LOT harder than I was expecting — they sent us up a pretty steep hill for the first bit, so I got a hell of a workout. After reaching the top, our guides ran off to put together an incredibly well done chocolate fondue setup. Imagine being in a forest clearing halfway up a mountain, with a table made out of snow… a tupperware container full of delicious fresh fruit, a fondue dish with delicious dark chocolate simmering away, yummy cookies, a glass of (non-alcoholic) champagne, and your favorite person in the whole world.

Yup, it was pretty much perfect. Also, I found a place to flomp in the snow and make a snow angel, to Nick’s amusement, which was was just icing on the fondue-flavored cake.

Loved it. LOVED IT. Not cheap, so maybe not the most responsible thing for an unemployed bum & his debt-ridden girlfriend, but it was amazingly fun, and we had a great time. Totally worth it.

Happy Valentines Day, sweetheart. I fall in love with you a little more every day.
