Why do I insist on reading the VPD Media Releases from time to time? They make me hate humanity. A lot.
Here, I’ll share. Merry Christmas.
Sep 26th: Vancouver Police are investigating a suspected hate crime, after a man was assaulted in the 900 block of Davie Street. The man was walking and holding hands with another man, when a group of people passed by, one of whom made derogatory remarks. The same person was seen punching the victim, knocking him to the ground, before his friends convinced him to leave.
…
The victim had his jaw broken in three places and is having it wired shut on Monday.
Oct 21: A 40 year old man suffered cuts and bruises after an altercation along the seawall near Harbour Green Park.
What began as a verbal disagreement soon became physical, as witnesses saw a group of eight people assault a lone male. He was punched several times by the three adults and five youths before he was pushed over the seawall, falling approximately seven feet into the rocks below. One suspect then proceeded to kick the man in the face before the group dispersed and fled.
A 14 year old boy is facing charges of common assault.
November 28: Two related home invasions in the southeast area of 41st Avenue and Rupert Street have resulted in the arrest of a 31 year old man.
A husband and wife awakened to find a burglar in their bedroom, searching the pockets of a pair of pants. The woman screamed and the burglar fled the house. They called 9-1-1 immediately. As investigators arrived and began to gather information, they were dispatched to another home invasion in progress just a few blocks away.
In the second incident, three residents of a house were confronted and threatened by a man with a weapon. Two of the residents, a 27 year old man and a 26 year old woman, managed to escape to safety and called 9-1-1 immediately. A 27 year old woman was still in the home and was allegedly sexually assaulted.
Nov 30th: A 41 year old man, with two nine year old boys in his van, has been arrested and is facing possible charges of impaired driving, as well as hit and run after a collision at 41st Avenue and Oak Street. Witnesses say the driver of a silver minivan did not stop after the collision and the driver appeared to be drunk.
…
Once the driver’s son and his son’s friend were looked after, the driver was taken to the police station to give a breath sample. His breath samples revealed he was four times over the legal limit. He was lodged in the jail for his own safety until he was sober again.
Nov 30th: A 24 year-old Vancouver man, and his 28 year-old Coquitlam friend were walking and singing Christmas Carols near Smithe and Burrard Street when they were approached by a group of men who yelled at them to shut up. The group made slurring derogatory comments and then punched one of the men several times in the face before running off.
…
The case will be followed up with the VPD’s Hate Crimes Investigator due to the nature of the comments that were made.
Dec 12th: A 49 year old man blew three times over the legal limit after he collided with a Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services truck near the intersection of Bute and Robson Street. [Ed. Note: Ok, that one's just funny. Idiot.]
And now that I hate everything and everybody… I think I’ll go do customer service for a while. This is a plan that can’t fail!
The two a mere block from my house scares the crap out of me. At least they caught that guy. BUT…Mark goes back on graveyard in a month.
I need a dog, daMMit. *fwightened*
Yeah… I get it. The one about a guy trying to abduct a 15 yr old a few blocks from here didn’t make me feel good either. On the other hand, I DO have a dog, and while she’s not even remotely dangerous, she’s very protective of me and not afraid to snarl at anyone she considers a threat. :)
Yeah, but remember that your tax dollars don’t fund a group that goes around and posts lists of all the good deeds and self-sacrifices that people do all the time. Selection bias is kicking you in the head. If society was really that bad, you wouldn’t be able to live with 2.5 million other people. ;-)
Actually, they do list a lot of good stuff they’re doing on there as well. But who reads that stuff? I want the gore! The slime! The dregs of society!
Merry Christmas. :D
