S-s-so C-c-cold…

So the hot water heater is dead.

You’d be amazed at how much you miss this when it’s gone.

I’m … not a fan of cold. I’m a bit ridiculous about it, really. I sleep — year round — with a heavy duvet (and a warm dog and a warm boy — god, I love the heat projection from those two…). I prefer flannel. I come home and change into pajamas. Hell, I’d be a nudist (at home, anyway) if it wasn’t for my love of warm cozy pj’s.

So, a hot shower and a hot bath are two of my greatest joys.

And the hot water heater is dead.

Last night, in a fit of desperation, I washed my hair by kneeling over the tub and using the detachable shower head. It was horrific. I turned on music and shut the door and Nick could STILL hear my cries of pain as the icy cold water drilled its needles into my head. It was necessary, I hadn’t showered in three days and my hair was starting to resemble the grease trap at McDonalds.

It was AWFUL. So awful that I forewent what was originally going to be step two — a pseudo sponge bath (with a basin full of BOILED water. The kettle still works, at least.) I was just too cold to move my fingers, so I went back upstairs for some love and commiseration from the boy who can shower at work. Damnit.

Luckily, the electrician is coming today to tell us what’s wrong with the wretched thing. Think cheap thoughts for us.

You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.

Yeah, I’ve had more than a few ‘sponge baths’ from the kettle and the sink over the years. Better than stinking the house out when the magic smoke escapes from the hot water heater. :(
Put a nice hot air blower beside you and its almost pleasant.
But that doesn’t give you anyway to wash your hair sanely! :(

Brandi and I are basically nudists too (expecially now that Brandi doesn’t really fit into her PJ’s at the moment) so I feel your pain. For a while when my shower wasn’t working I used to go swimming and make sure to use their shower facilities…also a bit of exercise.

Jon: Considering your flickr pictures, I can tell! :D
