Macabre humour ahead.

Note: My sympathies to people affected by this. However, I have a macabre sense of humour, and given my future career aspirations, this is actually a good thing — those with a darker sense of humour are apparently less likely to burn out in professions like paramedicine.

Disclaimer aside… is it bad that the first thing I thought when I saw the CBC headline “Eight people now dead because of listeriosis” was that they maybe shouldn’t use so much listerine?

Still, in my attempts to be more educated about what’s going on, I read the article. And it only got worse. In the “Latest recalls” section, they list the product, the UPC code, and the “date packed” (up to and including.) One of those products was “Kirkland Signature Meat & Cheese Platter”. And the date packed is August 29th.

HOW DO THEY KNOW? Sweet jesus, is CFIA psychic? And if not… why don’t they tell them to STOP PACKING THE DAMN FOOD. Seriously, Costco — this is POISON. STOP MAKING MORE OF IT.

Sometimes the news makes me laugh.

What’s really weird is that the average incubation period is 30 days, yet they’re getting sick from food packaged since the 24th of August.
