So it turns out that my uncle & cousin have started a joint venture: Boots! Who doesn’t love boots? Specifically: Custom boots, made to match your feet exactly. As someone who wears a size 5 1/2 wide and doesn’t like shopping in the kiddie department, I find myself intrigued.

From my uncle:

For those of you who don’t already know, I’ve started a business with my nephew, Michael Booth. We are designing and importing custom, made-to-order shoes and boots. Any style.
I have just received pics of the first 3 samples we designed. 23 more to come!

Our first “real” orders so far have been for Chef shoes, safety boots, motorcycle boots and ladies fashion boots. Most have been designed by the client or we have received a photograph of the order. One of our consultants takes the measurements and design requirements and then places the order to the factory.

Right now the turn-around time is over 60 days but that should improve as our materials arrive in a good supply. We are using only the best leathers, threads, soles and other materials we can acquire. The craftsmanship is done by our factory in the Philippines (in the famous shoe-making Marikina district) and yes, we have a fair wages/working conditions policy in place.

Every pair requires a pair of “shoelasts” to be made. These are wooden replica of the feet. The shoe or boot is built on top of this so it contours exactly to the individual foot.
