Something to whine about

This morning, I did 60 situps, two “real” push ups (as opposed to the wonky ones I used to do), two minutes of skipping (minus about 10 seconds when I hit the dog with the skipping rope and then put her in her crate while I finished), 30 step-ups, a minute on each side of “side planks” (ok, more like 40 seconds each before I collapsed, but still … ow, those hurt) and … a minute or so of twisty things.

All completed with nary a complaint.

hahah, no, I’m totally lying. I bitched like nothing else the entire way through. Exercise hurts.

So that’s day two of getting up early to exercise. And by “early” I mean a full hour later than I’d have to get up if I were in Cloverdale. Nice.

In other news, I’ve called off the apartment hunt, and am going to live with Nick for a while. I figure the stairs only tried to kill me once, so this might just work. Justice likes it there… it’s four blocks from a great little off leash park… and it’s just til I move to the interior to be a paramedic, so what the heck.

Now to figure out what’s coming with me, and what I’m going to beg my parents to store for me. That’s what parents are for, right?

Cannot help but be excited. Is freaking gorgeous apartment, contains one very attractive boy who I like very much, and… I’m back in Vancouver! NO MORE CLOVERDALE! Commence happy dance of joy.

Didn’t know your paramedic plan included moving to the interior. I was surfing the Mayne Island website a while ago and noticed that they were looking for two ambulance attendents. Not the same thing, I imagine, but they were offering to pay training expenses, etc.

Made me stop and consider; Mayne is very, very nice.

Don’t have any choice — to start as a paramedic in this province, you *have* to go to the interior. They don’t hire brand new PCP’s (of which I won’t be until I take the PCP program anyway) in the lower mainland.

So, the plan is… get EMR license, get class 4 drivers license, jump through the eleventybillion hoops that is Getting Hired at BCAS, hope like hell I can get into a rural station close to the lower mainland, since only rural stations hire new EMR’s — part time & on call, and … move. :)

    Easy peasy, right?

Anyway. It’s not just Mayne Island — anyone who’s willing to commit to two years working in the interior can get a grant for a good portion of their PCP tuition. I’m hoping to take that next year, but need to have some more money saved up first … grant or not.

I booked my written exam to get my EMR license about half an hour ago, and am waiting to hear back which of my three choices are available for the practical exam… time to start studying again. Woo!
