Sept 28th – Boundary Clearing, Puppies, & Lightning
COMPLETE!
I think there’s a bit more to do at the other end, but for the most part, the boundary is done. Thank freaking lord. We were supposed to be doing this all day, so instead the Big 5 group is going to do the trees & their uses induction, while Tara & I go to see the puppies with Nathan. Excellent — I only have two days left, I need to see the puppies again.
I am so not ready to leave.
I actually spent some time seriously trying to figure out how I could arrange my trip to last longer… my flight to Joburg is non-refundable, but only $200… and I can change my Cathay Pacific flight for $100… and I’m sure work could do without me for another few weeks… but no, there’s just no way I can afford it. I need to get back to work and start making more money for my next trip, and that’s all there is to it.
I’m having such an incredible time. I never want it to end. Boundary clearing and all.

Evening – Puppies!
We went to visit the puppies this afternoon. Since Iceman went to Victoria Falls to his new home, only Maverick & Goose remain. They’re doing SO well! With the trip to Victoria Falls and Nathan’s vacation time, we hadn’t had a chance to visit them in a week and a half… and they’ve grown so much. Which makes sense, since they’re still only about 12 weeks old, and a week makes a huge difference at that age… but there were no more putsy flies (thank god, SO VILE), and Goose just had a wee bit of pus in a tiny cut (which I iodined up, promptly covering myself in iodine in the process). Aside from the rather excessive case of fleas they have, and the fact that they really need vaccinating soon… they’re just awesome. I’m going to miss the little buggers.
We were treated to an awesome lightening show tonight… but no thunder. When we asked Nathan, he said this often happens. I can’t figure out how, although now I’ll have to research it when I get home… which is far, far too soon…
More pictures, including two hungry lionesses I forgot to upload earlier.
