Animals

Zimbabwe Travelogue Index

So, a big part of the trip was animals — seeing them, eating them, touching them, and so on. I eventually kept a list of everything I saw. And ate. And now, I share it with you!

Animals

- Leopard
- Elephants. Thousands of ‘em. (Ate some elephant jerky. Tasted like cardboard at first, but with a rather nice aftertaste.)
- Giraffe
- Warthog (did not get to eat. Was very sad.)
- White Rhino
- Lion
- Zebra
- Buffalo
- Baboon
- Vervet Monkey
- Hippo
- White Tailed Mongoose
- Banded Mongoose
- Crocodile (ate it – very tasty, like a slightly fishy chicken)
- Ground hornbill
- Yellow-billed hornbill
- Ostritch (ate it, on a kebab!)
- African Wild (Painted) dog
- Jackal
- Hyena
- Genet
- Bushbaby
- Spring Hare

Antelope (there’s enough of ‘em that I put them in their own category.)
- Impala (ate it, in a stew)
- Duiker
- Sable
- Steinbok (Or Stenbok, Steenbok, Steinback, and so on. Evidently there are a thousand different names & spellings for these little guys.)
- Kudu (ate it, very tasty)
- Roan
- Eland
- Wildebeest
- Waterbuck
- Bushbuck
